A Salad a Day

The few carbs you do eat each day should come form the leafy greens and vegetables in a large salad. This will provide some fibre as well. You will want to avoid fruits and vegetables high in carbohydrates. Remember, you have a limit of 20 to 40 grams a day when in the induction phase.

Eat:
Lettuce, Broccoli, Cucumbers, Mushrooms, Celery, Alfalfa Sprouts,  Egg, Cheese, Tuna, Chicken, Nuts.

Use Sparingly:
Tomato, Green Onion, Egg Plant.

Avoid:
Rice, Beans, Corn, Onion, Carrots, Fruit.

Watch out for sweet dressing. The last thing you need is a big dollop of some corn syrup sweetened dressing on the top of your cobb salad. Oil and vinegar can work well, or just a drop of what ever kind you like for a bit of flavour. Low fat dressing wont help you if it's sweet.

Once you feel your appetite disappear one is tempted to try to eat as little as possible to hurry the weight loss process. I tried cutting out the meat and/ or cheese in my daily salad. I found that I became hungry in the evening if I did this and was more likely to fall off the diet.
