Learn how to Lose Weight With Low Carbohydrate Dieting

Many people who have had trouble controlling their weight have been successful using the low carbohydrate approach. No diet is for everyone but it is possible, even likely that the Atkins diet will work for you.

This site attempts to collect and disseminate the basic information about what works, why it works, and how to make it work for you.

A key to success with low-carbism is to understand how to do it and why it works. The idea is simple:

  • The diet works by making you less hungry so you eat less.
  • This is accomplished by eating to control changes to your blood sugar level.

This is a diet that you have to learn how to do. It takes a while to learn what to eat, what not to eat and why. The concepts are simple enough and can be gone over in an hours study. But it takes time to put the information into practice and personally feel the effect this type of eating has on your appetite and your body.

Motivation

To someone that has been overweight for years, the idea that is actually possible to gain control over ones weight may seem like an unachievable and unbelievable fantasy. I can tell you from personal experience that these techniques can work. I was able to lose about 50 pounds in 4 months using the diet and have kept most of it off for over 3 years now. I lost weight so fast that people that had not seen me for a few months literally did not recognize me right away. Even to me, my reflection in a mirror or store window seemed to belong to someone else.

When you start to feel the diet working and feel first hand your hunger reduced, the effect is so motivating. It feels like being let out of fat jail. There is a great feeling of power and control over one's body.

After years of diet advice such as "eat less and exercise more", or "chew your food 20 times a bite", finding something that actually works is amazing.

Attitudes Towards the Overweight

Many people, even those who are overweight, feel that overweight people are "lazy", "stupid", and over eat because they are seeking the "pleasure of eating". Someone who's body does not tend to gain weight can't understand that an overweight person might eat because they are hungry. It is not easy to understand until you have felt it, that one can feel full, fat, and hungry, all at the same time. It's not a pleasant feeling. Again, it's a great discovery to realize you can control your hunger and thus your weight by avoiding carbohydrates.
